Commonly used fixtures in CNC workshops
2026-06-16
1 Flat-nose pliers/vises
🎯
Purpose: One of the most basic and common fixtures, suitable for fixing small parts with regular shapes. If you encounter special-shaped parts, just replace them with milled aluminum soft claws. Soft claws can conform to the shape of the workpiece. Guaranteed to leave no pinch marks.
⚙️
Features: Simple and fast operation, suitable for workpieces of various materials and sizes.
💡
Tips: Remember to check the tightness of the screws regularly to avoid insufficient clamping force due to wear. The biggest fear is that the bottom surface isn’t leveled. Once clamped, the workpiece will tilt upward.

2 Three-jaw chuck
🎯
Purpose: Mainly used on lathes to evenly clamp cylindrical or approximately circular workpieces.
⚙️
Features: Strong self-centering function, stable and reliable clamping. However, its clamping force is relatively dispersed. There will be a little eccentricity when the accuracy requirements are extremely high.
💡
Tips: Pay attention to choosing the appropriate claw when using it to avoid damaging the surface of the workpiece.

3 Four-jaw independent chuck
🎯
Purpose: This chuck comes in handy when more flexibility is needed to adjust the position of each claw.
⚙️
Features: The positions of the four claws can be adjusted separately, suitable for asymmetric or irregularly shaped workpieces.
💡
Tip: Although it is highly flexible, it does take some time to get it right. But this thing is tightly clamped, and the accuracy depends entirely on your skills. Suitable for occasions with small batch size but high precision requirements.

4 Magnetic chuck
🎯
Purpose: Especially suitable for fixing flat iron materials.
⚙️
Features: No need to drill or otherwise fix the workpiece, saving time and cost.
💡
Tips: Pay attention to keep the working surface clean and free of oil, otherwise it will affect the adsorption effect.

5 Pneumatic/hydraulic clamps
🎯
Purpose: A good helper on automated production lines, achieving fast and stable clamping through pneumatic or hydraulic pressure.
⚙️
Features: High efficiency, can be linked with the CNC system, and can be used with our commonly used Mitsubishi M80 system to write a few M codes to control the linkage. Automated production was started immediately to improve the level of production automation.
💡
Tips: Regularly check wearing parts such as sealing rings to prevent air leakage and water leakage from affecting performance.

6 Special fixture
🎯
Purpose: Clamps designed and manufactured for specific products, such as mobile phone cases, auto parts, etc.
⚙️
Features: Strong pertinence, which can better ensure product quality consistency.
💡
Tips: This type of fixture is often more expensive, so its versatility and durability must be fully considered during the design stage.

7 Vacuum suction cup
🎯
Purpose: Suitable for thin and light plates such as glass, plastic plates, and aluminum plates.
⚙️
Features: It will not leave traces on the surface of the workpiece, which is very suitable for CNC products that have strict requirements on appearance.
💡
Tips: Before use, make sure the vacuum pump is working properly and the surface of the suction cup is clean and dust-free.

8 Combined pressure plate
🎯
Purpose: Used to fix large or irregularly shaped workpieces, especially in milling machines and flat surfaces.
⚙️
Features: It can adapt to the clamping needs of various complex workpieces through a combination of pressure plates of different heights and positions.
💡
Tip: Make sure the contact surface between the platen and the workpiece is flat for better clamping.

9 Zero point quick change system
🎯
Purpose: Used to quickly replace different fixtures or tooling, greatly shortening the mold change time.
⚙️
Features: Fast and accurate positioning and clamping are achieved through precision positioning pins and clamping devices.
💡
Tip: Regularly clean and maintain positioning pins and clamping devices to ensure system accuracy and reliability.

10 Self-centering vise
🎯
Purpose: Affordable five-axis machine tools. It must be equipped with this high-end vise. Its jaws are very narrow. There is very little margin for clamping the bottom of the workpiece. Usually only two to three millimeters is enough. This can expose the workpiece to the greatest extent. No matter how the tool rotates, it will not interfere with the collision. The clamping force is huge and it bites hard. No need to worry about flying items at all.
⚙️
Features: With automatic centering function, the clamping force is evenly distributed to ensure the center position of the workpiece.
💡
Tip: Check and calibrate the self-centering mechanism regularly to ensure its accuracy.
